Delivering the support Farm & Stable needed to stride ahead online

Improving the codebase of the store, upgrading features and providing maintenance and support for one of the UK's leading suppliers of equestrian supplies.

Farm & Stable has been supporting equine professionals across the UK for more than 45 years, providing a complete range of products to support sports horses across all disciplines – from equine wormers and nutritional supplements to veterinary and medical supplies, stable and yard equipment, grooming products and much more. With a Royal Warrant and vast knowledge of all aspects of equine wellbeing, the company also has dedicated Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs) who are on hand to provide expert advice and support, including equine worming.

When we started working with Farm & Stable, its store had poor quality code that was hampering performance and causing a number of issues. Our task was to upgrade the store by improving the code quality and adding new features on Magento Cloud, including upgrading the OGL connector for split store views. Our team worked to a tight deadline to ensure the client didn’t have to pay for Magento support outside of their contract.

Farm & Stable came to us with a store that had poor quality code. Left as is, this creates technical debt that can hamper site performance and lead to issues affecting overall stability and day-to-day usability.

Given the impact on the business, our team’s first priority was to improve the codebase to create a faster, smoother and more stable experience for both users and staff. We also added new features and fixed bugs to make managing the site much easier, including work on the ERP multi-site integration to facilitate stock control, order management, reporting and accounting. This is now seamlessly integrated with the store, providing Farm & Stable with complete visibility of business performance including easier order management and real-time stock, order and financial data.

Our initial work was completed in a very short timeframe, saving the client money as it meant they wouldn’t have to pay for support outside of their contract.

Since then, we have continued to work with Farm & Stable over the long term, becoming their ongoing partner to provide all the support they need to thrive in the online space.
